Jessica’s recent works are created using beauty apps on an iPhone. The works are molded by a fascination with the limited functionality of the app which is to enhance a user’s image,revealing societal beauty standards in its programming. The series pushes these apps beyond their initial intent to varied forms of abstraction and sometimes obliteration.The layering of the imagery creates a lenticular quality like a hologram aiming to mimic pulsating movement of a digital screen experience in an analog way.
